Deacon Matheson R.I.P. March 7 2024
Deacon was a good friend, a great piercer and a huge part of Wonderland Studios. Sadly he passed away on March 7 2024. I'm keeping his portfolio up here as a tribute to my friend, and a great piercer who had impacted so many peoples lives. We are no longer offering piercing services at Wonderland Studios, or at least for the foreseeable future.
Deacon is a recent addition to the hallowed halls of Wonderland Studios, but has been a mainstay within the tattoo and piercing landscape closing in on 2 decades. He began taking his first fledgling footsteps in the industry during the summer of the year 2000, accepting a position as front end staff at Tattoos by Zap in His home town of Owen Sound, ON. This would turn into an apprenticeship that would be completed while still enrolled in full time studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, majoring in biology with a psychology minor. Approaching the world of piercing from the realm of academia, he has always moved forward with a constant scientific questioning of the techniques, methods, and materials utilized by the piercing industry; looking for ways to continually grow, learn, and hone his craft.
It was this ambition that would become the driving force which would inevitably cause him to vacate the position of head piercer at Tora Tattoo that he held for 14 years; and create the first fully disposable professional piercing operation in Kitchener-Waterloo here at Wonderland Studios. Using exclusively the highest quality internally threaded/threadless implant grade jewelry, handmade nickel and cadmium free 14k solid gold, combined with ultra fast Statim sterilization & advanced techniques; he is pleased to offer the pinnacle experience of safe, clean, and comfortable procedures to his clients.
When not at the studio Deacon can often be found on the mats training, passing on knowledge, and occasionally instructing in another passion of his, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
